Douglas County is a great place to live, we have plenty of shopping areas, and you won't go hungry as every road has plenty of restaurants of every kind, from Burgers, to Steakhouses, to BBQ places, and also some great County Cooking at places like Cracker Barrel restaurant. Then we have the old standby's, like Waffle Houses, and how about International House of Pancakes restaurant. So you won't go hungry in Douglas County Georgia.
The Douglas County Courthouse is amazing, and a state of the art facility located on Hospital Dr. in Douglasville, Georgia.
It has that GOLD Dome that makes it so impressive.
The Commissioners are top of the line, starting with the Chairman, Mr. Tom Worthan, who is "YOUR" elected official, so if you need advise I would say talk with the Chairman, Tom Worthan, a true American and Family man from Douglas County.
Then there
is Commissioner, Tony Ashman who replaced Mr.Buddy Gorden in District 1. Tony is a very likable person, and he can be reached regarding any subject, after all he works for YOU!.
The Vice Chairman, David Latham, is a hard worker as well as Commission Vice Chairman, sitting next to Tom Worthan, he heads up District 4 and is willing to help anyone with any problems, he is well known and a family man that attends Chapel Hill Baptist Church on Sundays and paves the way for things that happen here in Douglas County. When attending a meeting at the Courthouse when you shake his hand you know you are shaking a honest mans hand, also look close because David keeps a Bible in front of him at every meeting. The other thing that I find interesting to me is that David when not working and serving the people here in the County works daily at his second job, as part owner of Bud's Benz. The highly regarded Mercedes Benz part shop that specializes in Mercedes Benz, parts, and he has people repair their cars that are from out of State plus some out of the Country. his business is World wide. One last thing regarding his business, "You could eat off the floor, that is how clean and professional his place is".
Heading up and leading the people here in Douglas County is District 3 Commissioner Mike Mulcare, a ma
n that cares for the people and the environment here in Douglas County, he has served as a leader in the local group called "The Friends of Douglas County". He is a man of his word and that is something that is rare in these political days.
The Youngest Commissioner to join the team is District 2, Kelly Robinson, very soft spoken but I am sure he will come out of his shell and go after things that are effecting Douglas County in any way that is harmful. Mr.Robinson, took over for Charlie Camp. I do not really know Mr.Robinson, but I will go out on a limb and say that he will be a super nice fellow and hard worker for all the people of this County.
The County has the TOP DOG of a Sheriff, that is of course Sheriff Phil Miller, he has a proven track record and protects the people of Douglas County, the officer's under him are a tough and rare breed that work hard to make our lives safer, and that is something that lets us all sleep
better at night, knowing that if there is a emergency, we have the men that can handle any job.
"YOU CAN SLEEP WELL, KNOWING THE SHERIFF IS ON DUTY"
As for as place to eat, Douglas County will not let you down, I mean, if you want a Burger, you have it, if you would like a Steak dinner, we have the best Steak houses in the County. Maybe you are into
Chicken, well we have several KFC restaurants, and if you want some exotic food try Arbor place mall, the FOOD COURT, and there you will find food from everywhere in the World.
So maybe that is why so many people use the Mall to walk and exercise in during the morning hours?. People of all ages an brackets walk from on
e end of the Mall to the opposite end of the Mall, sometimes you 
can meet some really super folks just walking and talking.
People in Douglas County are known for their friendliness, and easy going lifestyles. You have to remember Douglas County is 30 miles away from the huge city of Atlanta, Georgia, but that does not mean we can not have as much fun as those in the city.
We have a Cultural Arts Center that host all kinds of great events, and is located on Campbellton Street in Douglasville. If it has to do with ARTS and CRAFTS Douglas County has it. Just call them at : 770-949-2787 for all the information you may need.
